pot hole fixing in North Tyneside

Anyone who would like to report a pot-hole can contact the council either:
- Completing the on-line form on the council's website atwww.northtyneside.gov.uk - using the 'Report it' tap on the main home page.
- E-mail us on highways.environment@northtyneside.gov.uk
- Telephone 643 6130
- A pot-hole is characterised as being a defect in the road that measures 300mm or more in any direction and 40mm or more in depth
- The borough's busier roads and shopping centres are inspected monthly or three-monthly. The Highways Maintenance Team will normally inspect pot-holes within one day of them being reported. Our aim is to carry out repairs within 24 hours if they are considered an immediate danger to the public - and within ten days otherwise.
- There are different ways to fix a pot-hole. In many cases it is a simple localised repair where the loose material is removed and hot bituminous material is placed into the hole and then compacted. Where there is a cluster of holes together, we often dig out an area by machine to form larger squares, which are then filled with new road resurfacing material. In the severest cases we are either partially or fully resurfacing roads.
